This site is under construction. I am a working Master plumber and I will provide important information as I find the time. Between doing my plumbing jobs and time I spend writing my plumbing book, I stay very busy. If you keep checking back to this site you will find very helpful honest advice. I started my plumbing business in 1981 and built the business on honesty and quality. I plan to do the same with plumbingadviser.com. I can provide proof of my qualifications and my customers can varify my honesty. The most important advice I can give you right now is to be careful when you search for a good plumber. People tend to think that shopping for a plumber is like shopping for a toaster. That is a big mistake. It is very important that you find out the qualifications of the person that will actually show up at your home to do the work. You should expect to pay the going rate for a qualified plumber in your area. Keeping track of the time and paying a fair price is getting your monies worth. Trying to shop around and find the cheapest price to replace a toilet (or whatever) will usually end up with you paying more than you should have and you will often end up with very low quality work. Customers should realize that prices can always change if there are complications. A qualified honest plumber will do his best to avoid complications (even though sometimes they will occur). If you don't know you are dealing with an honest qualified plumber, you won't know if the complication was necessary or something to boost the price. Many large companies like to look in a book and use the time listed in the book and give you a price. Usually the worker (sometimes it isn't even a plumber) will rush through the job and do it at super speed because he probably cut corners. In the long term this type of plumbing work will cost you lots of money and lots of aggravation. Most of the plumbing I do is time and material because complications can pop up at any time. Usually complications pop up more often when working on very old and/or poorly assembled plumbing. Sometimes low quality material will cause complications. Whenever work is done complications can occur but careful work by an honest qualified plumber will keep these problems to a minimum. Try to remember that corny as it may sound, the plumber protects your families health. Even if you aren't concerned about mold and other dangerous conditions resulting from low quality plumbing repairs, in the long term you don't even save money (you loose it). Talk to your neighbors and search for a qualified honest plumber. It is well worth the trouble.
